Wall Fountain Installation

These are basic instructions on how to install a self-contained wall fountain with bowl. We present them to give you a guide. The procedure will vary with the fountain and the material it's made from.

  1. Install a plastic cord seal into 1/2" threaded fitting.
  2. Cut plug off electric wire to pump and thread through the plastic cord seal. Leave enough electric cord in the fountain to conveniently place the pump and to move the pump for cleaning. Tighten the cord seal to seal it against the cord.
  3. Make a paper template of the back of the fountain backplate including the bolt holes and piping connections. Use this to mark the wall where the fountain is to be placed. Ensure that there's structure in the wall where the fountain will be placed. It is up to you to determine that the structure is adequate to carry the load.
  4. You'll make the electric and water connections at the same time. Ideally, make the electrical connection on the other side of the wall so that if the pump quits working, you'll be able to replace it without removing the entire fountain from the wall. Mount the wall fountain to the wall with the provided screws.
NOTE: It's important to level the shell or bowl than it is to level the back of the fountain. With lead metal, there's a certain amount of adjustment you can do to the bowl after installation, but start as level as possible to make the final adjustments easier.
  5. Assemble the pump in the bowl with the provided tubing, etc. Fill with water.
  6. Turn on the pump and adjust the water flow.
  7. Stand back and look at your wall fountain. Look at the bowl. If it's a lead metal bowl and sagging or misshapen in any way, use a rubber mallet to carefully bump it to reshape it. Don't get over ambitious and end up with more problems.
  8. If included, install rosettes or other plaques on the mounting screws.
  9. Place the cover over the pump.
  10. Maintenance.
Clean with soft cloth and at most, a very mild non-abrasive cleanser.
Wax with either a paste wax or clear furniture wax, acrylic or silicone.
  11. If the pump quits working, then you may have to remove the fountain from the wall depending on your installation configuration.
