Sea Turtle Water Fountain Spitter
DID YOU KNOW that the American Box Turtle is becoming increasingly rare in the wild? A loss of natural environment, an increase in roads, and indiscriminate gathering of these native turtles are the contributing factors. The last 50 years have shown a steady decline in this turtle.
This turtle is protected from international trade by the 1994 CITES treaty, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. CITES aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. Many states have legislation to protect every species of the American Box Turtle.
