DID YOU KNOW that the Dalmatian has been around as the fire dog since the fire department used horses? Dalmatians signified endurance and stamina although they aren't fast. They can run for a long time without rest.
Dalmatians escorted the horse-drawn fire-engine to the fire. The horses could easily see the spotted Dalmatians. Once at the scene, the Dalmatians protected the horses from other animals.

The first president of the new league was Morgan Gardner Bulkeley, who later became a US Senator.
